Clean Villages: Award to the SEVAI villages!!!

Today, I received from Govindaraju this note which shows the quality of the work done by his team in the villages :

"I would like to enlighten you that the President of India awarded "Nirmal Purashkar Award" in Pune for 36 villages of Andhanallur, Manachanallur, Lalgudi, Musiri, Manikandam, Thiruverambur Blocks for clean village under total Sanitation project based on the activities of 187 SHGs and Panchayat Leaders during first week of December.
This award carries each village with an amount of Rs.1 Lakh towards recognition of the sanitation work and will be deposited in Village Panchayat Account for further sanitation activities which would benefit the 187 SHGs out of around 4000 SHGs promoted by SEVAI.
Allur tops the list for outstanding performance in sanitation activities.

Rural Sports events for SHGs have been conducted in all the 7 blocks and awards were given to SHG members those performed well in sports activities.
The prizes were awarded at cost of Rs.30,000 per block and this expenditure was incurred directly by Dist.Collector's account.

These are some of the social and cultural promotion undertaken for VRC members during mid November before the floods of Trichy and its neighbourhood districts due to NISHA Cyclone.
